An email was sent on Oct. 16 to the more than 200 bishops, priests and deacons registered from across the State of New York to attend the Congress. The email included clergy passes for the grounds.
For the Masses on Saturday and Sunday, bishops will have matching chasubles provided. All priests are asked to bring an alb and white chasuble (preferably their diocesan chasuble). All deacons are asked to bring an alb and white stole. Deacons will be needed for the distribution of Holy Communion.
To participate as clergy in the Eucharistic Procession, clergy may be vested in alb and stole or in cassock and surplice. They are asked to be seated in the sanctuary where they were seated for Mass and then join the procession in sections. Non-vested clergy are asked to join the procession with the lay faithful.
Diocesan priests or deacons in good standing of one of the eight Roman Catholic dioceses of New York have had their testimony of suitability handled already through their respective chanceries. Religious priests and deacons or priests and deacons from dioceses outside of New York need a testimony of suitability to participate as clergy in the Mass (and for priests confessions). These must be emailed ASAP to Anne Frame of the Diocese of Albany as well as to conference organizers so that everything can be set for you to participate fully.
We thank all of the clergy who will be present with us for their prioritization of the Eucharist in their lives and in the lives of those who serve, and for making the sacrifices necessary to accompany all of us during the Eucharistic Congress.
